Basehor offers a small-town atmosphere while still being close to shopping, restaurants and other conveniences people enjoy.
So close to what you want, and so far away from what you don’t want.
The city of Basehor was founded in 1889 by Rueben and Ephriam Basehor from Mifflintown, PA. Basehor, though it has grown significantly since then, remains a quiet, comfortable community located just outside of Kansas City. Citizens enjoy a blend of just the right amount of small town life with the amenities of urban America and big city conveniences. Just minutes from the metropolitan areas of Kansas City, our city’s slogan “A little country near Kansas City” says it all.
With convenient access to highways US 24-40, Kansas Highway 7, Interstate 435 and Interstate 70 it is a 20 minute drive to Kansas City, Missouri, KCI Airport, Leavenworth, Lawrence, Overland Park and Olathe. The area is also home to the Kansas Speedway, Kansas City T-Bones stadium, Sporting Kansas City soccer stadium, Schlitterbahn waterpark and Hollywood Casino. At Village West you will find a variety of shopping and restaurants and it’s all less than 10 minutes away!
